How I found affiliate marketing and what it is

If affiliate marketing is new to you! You are among the millions of people around the world that have not yet learned about it, I’m going to tell you how I learned about it and I will teach you some basics of affiliate marketing. I have coached youth sports for many years, “but what does this have to do with affiliate marketing?” I’ll get to that, but first, hear my story. In 2017, one of my athlete’s dads approached me about joining his team, when I asked him what his company did, he began explaining how he interviews employers to hear their story, and I stopped listening.

He talked to me a couple of more times that season, but I was making a decent living selling cars and I had no desire to change, and start interviewing companies. In 2018 I started my own company called G&S Arena Games with another athlete’s dad, which is an archery game, and after some setbacks in car sales I was beginning to struggle with the overhead costs of creating my business and was talking with my partner about what he wanted to do moving forward in the business.

The same dad had approached me again after overhearing me and my partner’s conversation, well; I listened this time to what he had to say. He told me how he does content marketing with affiliate products. I was hooked; as he explained that there are no overhead costs, I joined his team to become an affiliate marketer.

Affiliate Marketing

What is affiliate marketing? You ask, it is a marketing arrangement by which an online retailer pays a commission to an affiliate for which generates trafficking sales for them. In a nutshell, you engage with people about your affiliate products on your website and or social media and if your clients click the link on your product to make a purchase, you get a percentage of the sale.

Sounds simple right? Well, there is a bit more to it if you want to make a larger passive income. Getting started can be easy with hundreds, if not thousands of affiliate sites to choose from that will pay you to promote their products. Web sites can range from a simple do it yourself site to paying someone to build it for you, once you have created your site and have become an affiliate most site will approve you to sell their products.

Most companies will provide you with usable links and tools needed for your clients to purchase a product. One of the most prolific sites to use is Amazon; it is the easiest place to get started. They sell just about everything you can think. Creating a video or written review can be the best way to get people interested in the products you’re selling, this works great because these are products you use every day and can easily endorse them.

As you gain followers and experience from writing blogs or video’s you’ll want to start planning on moving up to the big ticket items like business training and live events for whomever your affiliate accounts are from, these types of coaching and self-improvement programs can yield a nice commission.
